Overview of Indian legal and Constitutional history

This book covers the course for this subject for the LLB Examinations. It describes the development of India's Judicial and Legal Systems in different periods starting with the Hindu Period, proceeding through Muslim Period and then the British Period. It also describes how the legal system of the country was reformed in the interests of integration and adminis tration from time to time.

Although mainly factual, the book does cover essential commentaries on law as they prevailed under different regimes, how, their maladies and ano molies were observed and removed.

The book covers the modern judi cial and legal system in its entirety giving the history of reforms under taken by different sovereigns in the Hindu & Muslim Periods and Governor Generals/Viceroys during the British.

The book also deals exhaustively with the constitutional history of India starting with the establishment of the East India Company. It brings out the different stages and developments lead ing to the final drafting of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Asse mbly after independence.
