In this challenging book, Dr. Karunakaran, an Indian scholar, points out how obsolete are <br/>the concepts held by the representatives of the advanced countries-both capitalist and communist. He notes, of course, that in actual practice those in power in the capitalist countries and their counterparts in the communist world have moved away from <br/>their conservative positions. But as he. points out, this is not enough. There should be a conscious attempt to give a new sense of direction to their societies; in other words, communist and capitalist societies should be modernised.
