Industrial Jurisprudence by EM Rao is a comprehensive study of the core principles of industrial adjudication and their evolution over time both in India and other countries, notably UK, USA and Australia. The book examines and presents these principles in the light of the principles of jurisprudence. Further, it highlights the canons of statutory construction as they ought to be, and have been, applied by tribunals and courts to cases falling within this branch. Consistent with the comprehensive definition given to the expression "industrial jurisprudence', an attempt has been made in this book to cover as exhaustively as possible the legislative and judicial trends in respect of labour laws falling within all the four major categories, namely. (a) welfare and working conditions, (b) wages, (c) industrial relations and (d) social security. Several judicial decisions have been critically examined from the standpoint of the principles of jurisprudence and of interpretation of statutes.
The book will be of immense help to students of jurisprudence, labour law and industrial relations as well as to legal practitioners, the judicial fraternity and academics.
