Cooperative movement in India is one of the largest voluntary movements in the world dedicated to the well-being of people at large. The primary aim is to inculate the habit of thrift, promote savings and mutual aid leading to the betterment of economic condition of those who join the cooperatives. Now the Indian cooperative movement has assumed a vast diversified character. New types of cooperative societies are emerging and there is a multidimensional growth in the operations of many of the existing cooperatives .
