Summary: The problem of child labour is a burning problem of the world which has constantly agitated the minds of jurists, legislators, social thinkers, politicians, economists and philan thropists from times immemorial. The problem has changed its evenue and from public platforms it has reached the inner circles of legislative, executive and judicial chambers. How ever, the problem is so accute, particularly in under deve loped and developing countries, that there is no easy and short cut solution in sight. The present work in hand, is an humble attempt on the part of the author to bring forward some of the aspects of this multidimensional problem and to give some suggestions for mitigating the acuteness and gravity of the problem. The author knows and accepts squarely that his attempt is not more than a drop in the ocean but then drops collectively may make an ocean themselves. The author has all hopes that his humble attempt will be well received by those who have any instinct for present and future welbeing of the children and through them, of the nation.
