  • GL 303.4 VYA
Summary: In this book an attempt has been made to trace the historical background to the Indian ethos in its socio-religious aspects. In delimiting the scope of the book two factors were kept in mind. One factor was the relative importance of that period of Indian history beginning with Raja Ram Mohan Roy for the understanding of the Indian ethos. The other factor was the absence of any comprehensive volume on the subject. Accordingly, in the following pages an attempt has been made to bring together the contributions made by all the important reformers from Raja Ram Mohun Roy to Mahatma Gandhi. In doing so, it became obvious that the earlier reformers could be conveniently reformers and that the later reformers could be classified under classified under the head of socio-religious reformers and that later reformers could be classified under the head of the social reformers. The classification is not water tight.
