Summary: This Handbook has been prepared for trainers to enable them to effectively design. structure and organize in-service training programmes based on Trainer's Manuals for cooperative staff. The demand for such a handbook was first made by participants of a Trainers' Training Programme organized by the National Council for Cooperative Training, and Institute of Cooperative Management, Pune, India with COOPNET support, as a part of a larger Programme to develop 5 Model Cooperative Training Centres (CTCs) in India. Under the Programme to develop 5 Model CTCs, a few Trainer's Manuals, on the line of ILO-MATCOM Trainer's Manuals, have been specially prepared for use by trainers at the CTCs. This Handbook, which is based on COOPNET Training Documents, provides necessary guidelines to trainers on the effective use of the Trainer's Manuals, while running need-based, skill forming, and participative methods-using training programmes. A list of COOPNET Training Documents is given in Annex 1. The Handbook provides tips only on such aspects as are crucial to designing and delivering an effective training programme; it does not deal with the subject matter - the contents of training. These have to be accessed, updated and organized by the trainers themselves.
