This book includes two trend reports and bibliographies on industrial sociology prepared for the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) by one author in 1970 (covering the period upto 1969) and by the other in 1973 (covering the period 1969-72). The edited versions of the two reports are presented here as part I and II respectively. Each part provides a brief summary of published materials as well as an exhaustive bibliography in various areas of industrial sociology viz.,
(i) commitment to modern industry.
(ii) social consequences of Industriali zation,
(iii) sociology of indus trial organization,
(iv) studies of trade unions and
(v) sociology of industrial relations.
Another bibliography of publicatios on the subject during the period 1973-77 is provided at the end. This book I will be of considerable help to teachers and students in industrial sociology as well as to management practitioners, trade union leaders and administrators concerned with events and problems relating to industrialization, trade unionism and labour relations in India.
