Summary: This book is a collection of papers presented at the National Seminar on Human Resource Development for Rural Development' organised by the Faculties of Commerce & Management Studies and Economics of the Hindu College, Machilipatnam. A number of academicians belonging to the national institutions, universities and Post-Graduate Colleges, besides a few administrators and social workers participated in the Seminar. The need for and the problems relating to the development of human resource in rural areas engaged the seri ous attention of the partici pants. The deleberations cov ered the subjects viz., educa tion, health and nutrition. economic support, training and development and social change. The seminar urged greater attention to the hith erto neglected problem of human resource development in rural areas and hailed the current policies and programmes of the Government aimed at providing more services for social consumption like education, health and training but sought a cautious and pragmatic approach to human resource development, and rural development in view of the faulty grounding of many sound policies and programmes at various levels in the past.
