Summary: This volume is the outcome of the papers contributed by scholars and experts to the Final Consultative Meeting on 'The Policy Issues in Implementation of National/State Population Policies' organised under Population Policy Project at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi during December 11-12, 2002. A special feature of this book is the presentation of District Action Plans (DAPs) for implementing population policies in one district of four selected Empowered Action Group (EAG) states. These include: Muzaffarpur in Bihar, Chattarrpur in Madhya Pradesh, Alwar in Rajasthan and Budayun in Uttar Pradesh. This book provides considerable insights into various dimensions of the implementation issues of population policy for India in general and EAG States in particular. The contributions included in this book along with the Introduction and Conclusion from the editorial team would be of special interest to demographers; health-educators; economists; social and family welfare agencies of the government at all levels; development administrators and policy makers in government, NGOs, other voluntary agencies and Self Help Groups.
