Summary: This prestigious publication of the Indian Law Institute has its genesis in the original book written by the illustrious author Justice Rama Jois, former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Later it came to be updated and ably edited by another illustrious authority, Prof. Upendra Baxi, the then Research Director of the ILI and former Vice-Chancellor of South Gujarat University and Delhi University. When all the copies of the second edition (1987) had been sold out we intended to get it updated by the original author. But due to paucity of time he could not undertake the task. We, therefore, decided that it should be undertaken by ourselves with all reverence and dedication such a work deserves. And we did it working as a team with the commitment characteristic of ILI Mr. Thomas Paul, Associate Research Professor. ILI successfully went through the task of coordination and collation.
