The public image of multinational corporations is a subject that arouses considerable controversy. To some they represent enlightened management employing efficient business methods for the benefit of the countries in which they operate; to others they are manifestations of economic imperialism of the worst kind.
In this book a team of experienced authors. examine some of the key features of multinational corporations and by means of an analysis of the press and a series of surveys investigate the attitudes of opinion leaders, company executives and the general public of ten European countries towards multinationals. Aspects of multinationals that are considered include:
- the positive and negative features of multinationals
- how the activities of multinationals should be regulated and who should be responsible for the regulation
- the distinctive features of multinational corporations when compared with national companies
-the differences between American and European multinationals.
In the second part of the book two teams of experts present a wider socio-economic analysis of the findings set against different national backgrounds.
