Summary: This is an inter-disciplinary text book on Mixed Economy in a social democratic framework. In a sense, every country is a mixed economy. If one visualises an optimum State and optimum non-State institutions, one gets a theoretical concept of the mix ed economy, which is not found in practice in any country. In this sense, no country is a full-fledged mixed economy. How, then, are we to give substance to this shadow and content to the of the mixed economy?
