This is an inter-disciplinary text book on Mixed Economy in a social democratic framework. In a sense, every country is a mixed economy. If one visualises an optimum State and optimum non-State institutions, one gets a theoretical concept of the mix ed economy, which is not found in practice in any country. In this sense, no country is a full-fledged mixed economy. How, then, are we to give substance to this shadow and content to the of the mixed economy? This question has been tackled by eminent thinkers in different countries and disciplines over a prolonged period. Research can bring together the available material. This has to some extent been done in this book. It is, therefore, essential reading for all serious students of economics, management science, commerce and political science at the graduate and post-graduate levels. It would also be of interest to all in active public life.
