One of the Most important structural chang the banking system of India was noted in the form of the beginning of the Lead Bank Scheme'. The Reserve Bank of India introduced this scheme in December, 1969 to give a concrete shape to the "Area Approach" for development, with the advent of the LBS, the fulfilment of socio-economic objec tives set before the nation gained momentum through (area development approach) and the base level credit planning has been assigned to the lead banks with the contemplated involvement of finan cial institutions and development agency operating in the area.
This book provides about the working of the LBS in Rajasthan. The principal object of the study was to make a comparative evaluation of the working of the LBS in Jaipur, Udaipur and Chittor garh districts of Rajasthan in which United Commercial Bank, SBBJ and Bank of Baroda respectively working as lead bank and the impact made by the banks in developing the economy of three districts.
This comprehensive study will fill up the gap in the available literature on the subject.
