The lawyers and Judges must have immediate, accurate and convenient access to the judicial interpretations of the words used in a particular provision of law. Many disputes can be resolved by applying right meaning attributed to the word by Hon'ble Supreme Court to a particular single word or phrase. All these are accurately available in this book of Words and Phrases.
The utility and need of meaning and interpretation of legal words and phrases is well recognized and felt by readers who get it in a single handy volume. While compiling the meanings as given and interpreted by Supreme Court of India, efforts have been made to incorporate them in a systematic and analytical manner for the convenience of the readers. The book has been revised and updated to include the latest pronouncements of the Apex Court. While adopting the topic approach, elaborate references have also been mentioned for the advantage of the readers. The comparative tables of citation would help in locating the cases in the Journals which the readers subscribe. This systematic and comprehensive work could be completed only with the help of my assistant Shri S.S. Negi who has taken pains to help me in finishing the work.
