He has had an opportunity of meeting with eminent Indian and foreign press men. He has studied from news papers, periodicals, journals, and a wide variety of literature, the problems of press freedom. He has delved into the concept and practice of that freedom, its dimen sions, and parameters as embodied in the Constitutions and the laws mostly of countries where democratice polity prevails. The limits of freedom in journalism in matters of decency, morality, violence drug abuse, sexual aberrations, social, educational, economic, and political conditions, and all that concerns living as normal human beings with dignity cannot be ignored. The developmental measures, conflicting rights like investigative report ing and invasion of privacy, and the mind boggling technological revolution are of ime importance in any study of the resent type. The diffusion of press ownership, concentration and monopoly, and how far the power of the press is on the decline must engage attention for improvement of the tone and health of press freedom. The bits and pieces of wit and humour thrown in to enliven boredom would no doubt provoke a quiet laughter in a moment of appreciation or dissent.
