Rural energy crisis

The Agricultural Development and Rural Transformation Unit functioning under of the aegis of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Government of India, has been organising seminars on topical issues like land reforms, plantation products and so on. During January 23-24, 1985, the Unit organised a seminar on 'Rural Energy Crisis' and the participants were drawn from various agro-economic research centres and various other institutions and government organisations throughout the country.

Professor V.K.R.V. Rao, the Chief Guest, Dr. G.V.K. Rao who presided over the inaugural session and Sri. T.R. Satish Chandran who delivered the inaugural lecture gave glamour to the seminar. The Institute Director Dr. G. Thimmaiah, various Heads of units, ADRT staff members, the faculty mem bers, students and Administrative staff of the Institute and other eminent personalities who readily agreed to participate, to act as chair-persons, discussants and rapporteurs deserve special thanks, without whose cooperation the seminar would not have been a success. My thanks are due to Dr. G. Thimmaiah, Dr. L.S. Venkataramanan, Dr. V.S. Satyapriya, Sri M. Viveka nanda, Dr. K.N. Ninan, Sri K.V. Govindaraju, Ms Mabel Koilpillai, Mrs M.
