Summary: The book has been written as a commemorative volume in honour of Dr. H.P. Das founder Professor and Head of the Geography Department o Gauhati University and founder President of the North-East India Geographical Society. The title, "The Great Indian Corridor in the East" has been adopted from the aritcle "The corridor and its relationship with SAARC, ASEAN & China: by Dr. Dilip Kr. Medhi as it is felt that it conforms more to geography than to other branches of science. In recent years, the region has been identified by some other terminologies like "Gateway to ASEAN", "Triangle of Prosperity" in addition to its old identity as "Land of Seven Sisters". Here, an attempt has been made to place the region as a corridor not only for growth and development but also as a link for trade and commerce among the SAARC, ASEAN, South East Asian Countries and China and to justify India's "Look East Policy" by drawing historical, socio-cultural, geophysical linkages. The process of regionalization has been established and a few selected sectors of the corridor having tremendous growth and investment potential but still remaining grossly unexploited have been highlighted primarily with a view to attract the potential investors to the region.
