Summary: The book NGOs, Education & Social Capital: A Micro Study of Tribals is based on the empirical study of two villages in Jharkhand. It is a comparative study of tribals of both these two villages on the role of non-governmental organizations in education and the formation of social capital. This empirical study has been conducted for the Doctoral (Ph.D.) requirement under the title of "Role of Non-Governmental Organizations in Education and Formation of Social Capital among Tribals: A Comparative Study of Two Villages in Jharkhand" through the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. This is, in fact, its first kind of study in India which has been done on the interlinkages of three major components, viz. NGOs, Education and Social Capital. This study has been considered as innovative in the academia in the sense that it has tried to evolve a new concept in the purview of social capital called "Indigenous Social Capital'.
