Indian Elections and Electoral Behaviour have attracted the atten tion of a large number of scholars ever since the first General Elections of 1951, But, by and large, the major focus of the scholars have been on the study of general voters or analy sis of electoral politics. In fact, there is hardly any attempt to provide an account of the electoral behaviour of Industrial workers. This work, Sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi on the eve of the 1977 Assembly elections, is a modest attempt to fill this gap. It gives an account of the electoral politics at the time of the 1977 Assembly Elections and analy ses the voting behaviour of the industrial workers.
Hopefully, the book, will prove extremely useful for the students of Voting Behaviour, Industrial Relations and Policy makers of the industry as well as the government.
