The main purpose of this study is to high light the importance of a forgotten chapter in the history of Indian political thought. It draws attention to the pioneering role played by Professor Benoy Kumar Sarkar in giving Indian politics as well as political research realistic touch and in developing a secular, value-free and matter-of-fact notion of politics on the basis of a realitic analysis of political events and proce sses. In this book the author has provided a detailed critical account of Sarkar's analysis of major political concepts and theories and of the new concepts deve dove loped by Sarkar as well as Sarkar's unorth odox views on Indian politics. The present study, further, dives deep into Sarkar's philosophy of life and correlates it with his political views. Thus pointing out the philosophical roots of Sarkar's politics it highlights the limitations and potentialities of Sarkar's attempt at giving a theoretical. base to the emerging liberal political system in India.
