Summary: This book presents a galaxy of illuminating and thought-provoking papers presented at the seminar on Rural Development held at D.A.V. College, Chandigarh. This seminar was organised as a part of the Silver ubilee Celebrations of the College which were inaugurated by our late Prime Minister Shrimati Indira Gandhi. The papers are the work of eminent scholars in their respective fields. We express our profound sense of gratitude to Professor Veda Vyasa, President, D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi who initiated the setting up of Rural Development Centres in D.A.V. insti Eutions. A man imbued with patriotic fervour and a lofty vision of India's glorious future, he very mach desired the D.A.V. institutions to make substantial contribution towards national development. His courage of conviction led to the opening of such development centres where commendable work connected with rural development is being carried on with single-minded devotion.
