Low Income Countries (LICs) are confronted with low levels of development and stagnant (even declining) per capita incomes. The challenges of development of these countries is enormous and has to be shared by the international community at large.
This book is divided into two parts. Part One examines the nature of problems of LICs in different regions including Africa and South Asia. It also discusses the role of economic cooperation among developing countries (ECDC) in ameliorating their problems. Part Two deals with the problem of external financing of LICs. It focuses on the debt problem and evaluates the international response. The volume includes a statistical profile of 57 LICS and LDCs covering various parameters of economic and social development. This book is essential reading for policy makers, scholars and students of Third World problems.
