Summary: The book entitled 'Educating Scheduled Castes' is the outcome of a research project sponsored by NIEPA which was completed in 1992. NIEPA has always given special attention to the study of educational problems of socially and economically backward castes of the society. and the Scheduled Castes constitute one such group. The book is based entirely on the analysis of secondary data. The project team was able to use the vital data from all social and economic sectors to unravel the complexities of the interactive process of socio-economic development. The work of such a magnitude can not be accomplished without teamwork. I would like to compliment to all those involved in bringing the project to this stage.
