In this book, an attempt has been made to analyse the impact of the measures adopted during the last 30 years or more for land reforms and agricultural development on the life and living of the weaker sections of the rural community typified by the small and marginal farmers and agricultural labourers. The book presents in detail a description of the various measures organisational as well as technological that have been under taken in post-Independence period for raising agricultural production.
The main contribution to knowledge that this work may claim to have made lies in the application of economic analysis to the policy for land an assessment of the success of the policy in the light of published data as also data collected in course of the field survey.
It is a comprehensive study of a pre-dominantly agricultural district which may provide an opportunity for the planners and administrators to draw suitable district level plans with an eye to the proper implementation of land reform and agricultural development measures.
