Summary: The idea of a research on the response of Catholic youth to their religion came up as one of the ways of celebrating the centenary of the Salesian presence in India (1906-2006). The study has been a wonderful exercise of collaboration, given that Fr. Cyril de Souza SDB is resident in Rome, while Mr. Josantony Joseph and Mr. Johny Joseph are based in Mumbai. In addition parish priests in parishes all over India contributed by helping in the collection of the data. The work has been completed very much on schedule, and so I have the pleasant privilege of being able to present the results during the centenary year. Our researchers arrive at the conclusion (within carefully defined meanings of 'belief' and 'faith') that, while there is, in general, no crisis of belief among Catholic youth in India, they might well be heading towards a crisis of faith.
