This study seeks to take an overview of the Sino-Soviet dispute which demolished the sedulously peddled cold war myth of monolithic international communism. It attempts to analyse the contest between Moscow and Peking from the latter's angle, although the basic compulsions of Moscow have been taken into account.
This does not purport to be a study of the Sino-Soviet dispute in its entirety. The objective here is limited to analysing some critical aspects which influenced the perceptions of the leaders in Peking and contributed to their decision to confront Moscow.
