Drawing from the basic findings of twenty-two research centers the country over, the authors present a program for leadership on the first level (men working with others) designed from the facts for maximum effectiveness. The statistics of the story come from factories, offices, and so on. The characteristics of a good leader in terms of his group's opinion and output, the elements in the relationship to the ""boss"" (anxiety, hostility, hostility, group forces) are considered. There is a run through of the steps a leader should follow for success: setting goals with a group, helping the group to reach them, coordinating the members and helping individuals fit into the group, interest in the group and humaness toward it. An aid for people in charge which shows what they can expect in a leadership situation and how they can effectively function. Somewhat repetitive.
