The Religion has always been the umblical cord of man's psyche ever since he was sensible enough to pry into the mysteries of universe and to search out the supreme power that regulated it all.
This search for the supreme power called by . various names in different civilizations, countries and climes-Ishwar, Allah, God and a plethora of nameless and shapeless deities-has been the most fervently and most consistently practised pursuits of man the world over. The pursuit in time led to various rituals, customs and details of worship which crystalized into standard, reasonably definable religions-better known as Hinduism, Mohammedanism, Christianity, Taoism etc.-among various population groups in various parts of the World.
The book "Religions of the World" is another one on the subject of course but it has been written with warmth and understanding of the requirements and intellectual aspirations of , general readers who are unable to spare time for the ritualistic and more serious study of religions in the temporal manner but all the same are eager to educate themselves and enhance their knowledge about the fundamentals of each of the major religions of the World, to know what they had in common and in what they were basically distinct from one another.
