It completely disrupted the economic life of this predominantly agricultural region. The survey of the impact of this drought on rural life was launched after a talk on the subject delivered by the Divisional Commissioner. B.K.Chougule, at the Rotary Club, Aurangabad in April 1973. In view of the limited resources, the study was restricted to two representatives villages, viz., Adul and Bhadji in Aurangabad district. It should be noted that the impact of the drought was even more severe in some parts of Osmanabad or Bhir districts.
