Summary: This book was first published in 1953 under the title The Electoral System in Britain 1918-1951. It is now brought up to date. The text of Part I remains substantially unaltered. In Part II, the only changes are those involved in extending the statistical data to cover the elections of 1955 and 1959. The Appendix dealing with Redistribution has been much expanded and a second Appendix has been added to deal with such discussion of the electoral system as has taken place in the last ten years.
