This book, which is a compilation of four research studies, focuses on the existing status of violence affected children and their families covered under the project 'Assist' of the Foundation and its evaluation based on the field data. It deals with the impact assessment of communal and terrorist incidents on the victim families in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar
Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. To facilitate understanding of the impact of violence on these vulnerable groups, extensive case illustration method has been adopted and presented delineating acute hardships faced by the individual families and the need for relief and . rehabilitation measures as per their requirements. Simultaneously, the existing condition of these vulnerable groups as a result of various relief measures extended to these families with particular reference to the scheme of assistance of the Foundation has been indicated. Besides, the publication evaluates the implementation of the project 'Assist' in the state of Uttar
Pradesh and gives an outline appraisal of the project at the national level. The book has led to a number of interesting facts and findings, which can be of great use to policy-makers/planners, administrators and individuals/ organisations concerned with roviding relief, rehabilitation and organizing settlement of the victims of communal violence, terrorism and other acts of societal violence.
