This book is unique in its combination of a treatment of rituals with farming prac tices and modernization. Rituals are organic to life and reflect the general culture-consciousness of a society in all its aspects, including the technical, Thus, Indian feudal farm practices are enshrined, along with the rituals, in the Krishi Parasara. Both of these, practices as well as rituals, are changing, as a result of the modernising efforts of government and private agencies. The author explains how this is taking place, on the basis of certain intensive field studies. He has also made several recommendations on the subject.
