The world of banking and finance is changing very fast and banks are transforming themselves with the focus on knowledge. Therefore, there is a need for today's bank employees to keep themselves updated with a new set of skills and knowledge. Banks and technology are evolving so rapidly that bank staff must continually seek new skills that enable them not only to respond to change, but also to build competence in handling various queries raised by customers as well.
The Institute had revamped its examination system and introduced the present examination system in 1998. As considerable number of years has since elapsed and a number of changes have occurred in the Financial Sector. it is required to have a fresh look at the examination system of the Institute. The Institute has, therefore, reviewed thoroughly the syllabus for various examinations with the help of an Expert Group under the Chairmanship of Prof Y K Bhusan. The Institute aims through the new syllabus to impart uptodate knowledge in the field of banking and finance with a view to equipping the bankers to face the emerging challenges of today and tomorrow.
The Institute constituted teams consisting of eminent bankers and academicians to prepare the reading material for all the subjects covered by the new syllabus. This book represents the outcome of this endeavour to bring out self-contained comprehensive study material.
