Summary: Neo Terrorism is the metamorphosis of net-centric warfare and its contemporary politico military dimensions. The 11 September 2001 attack on the United States only reflects the newer challenges to global security. The causes of this event should not be looked as a single aberration, but should be diagnosed analysed and treated In the Indian context. the experience of fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir provides a laboratory for analysis of various facets of terrorism including its impact on classical military strategies and national security. The contours of wars that are likely to emerge in the 21st century and the relevance of asymmetric warfare have been analysed, to bring out the symbiotic linkages between terrorism and military strategy. It is important to understand the various hues and linkages between terrorism, military strategy and Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) so as to re-define the emerging trends, which point towards low intensity conflicts (LIC) and proxy wars. The strategy of counter-terrorism in the sub-continent has been discussed in the book culminating in the global necessity of developing mechanism to contain the intensification of terrorism, including the threats of proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), their usage by terrorists, and consequence management.
