NCAER has organized a series of seminars on the Indian and world economy since 1997 to commemorate the fiftieth year of Indian independence. We invited eminent scholars to make original contributions of quality. For each lecture, two distinguished discussants were invited to initiate the discussions after the presentation. A distinguished public person presided at each lecture.
We are publishing each lecture alongwith the comments of the discussants as NCAER working papers. Later on, these lectures will be published as a combined volume. The speakers were given a chance to revise their draft taking into account the comments by the discussants.
The thirteenth lecture was inaugurated and presided over by Shri P. Chidambaram. This last lecture in the series on "International Capital Flows and Exchange Rate Management-East Asian and Indian Experiences" was delivered by the eminent economist Dr. C. Rangarajan, former Governor of Reserve Bank of India and present Governor of Andhra Pradesh. For this lecture no discussants were invited.
