By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: New Jersey; Princeton Univ. Press; 1964Description: 93 pSubject(s): DDC classification:
  • 332.152 Mac
Summary: There has been growing dissatisfaction with the present international monetary order or disorder. Some experts have come to regard reforms as desirable, necessary, or even urgent, and several plans for reform have been submitted. Some of these plans are radical, evidently because their proponents consider the defects and dangers of the present system too fundamental for mere patchwork to remove them. Other plans are less ambitious, probably because their proponents regard radical re forms as unnecessary or believe they are unacceptable given the con ervatism of the "practical men” and their qualms about political feasi ilities. It goes without saying that there must be essential differences etween plans that are designed to serve different objectives, to correct fferent defects, or to avert different dangers.
