Development of tribal people as well as areas is undoubtedly a matter of great concern to all of us. These are the people, who, though forming a considerable part of Indian society, have been deprived of the benefits of development through the ages. The interest in tribal upliftment encouraged a large number of social scientists, particularly anthropologists, to study various tribal communities in India.
The book, therefore, devotes to the study of tribal problems in the present context as a whole with special emphasis on the inter-play of culture, economy and health care practices of the Saharias - a tribal community of Rajasthan in the given ecosystem.
It is hoped that the study will be of special interest not only for social scientists but also of immense help for the planners and administrators engaged in planning and implementing the development programmes for tribal communities, especially Saharias.
