The present book Tribal Demography is a descriptive analysis of nature and motivation of process and profile of the tribal demo graphy in six comprehensive chapters Appraisal and Process of Tribal Demo graphy; Population Profile of Indian Tribes; Social Development of Tribal Demography; Politico-Economic Development of Demo graphy; Demographic Indicators of Tribal Welfare; and Method and Material of Socio Biological Demography. We have stranged ambivalent and contradictory attitude in dealing with tribal society in our demo graphic development process. It is true that development proceeds tribes to tend to get assimilated into the mainstream, but due to geographical ethnic and other barriers, the fusion process often halting and full of contradictory twists and turns.
