The present book has entered the twentieth year of its publication since its first edition was brought out in 1994. The author has great pleasure and satisfaction in placing this revised and enlarged Seventh edition of the book in the hands of readers who are genuinely interested in the deeper knowledge of legal theory and jurisprudential aspect of legal study.
The author has endeavoured to bring out this edition in a thoroughly revised form with greater thrust on Indian perspective of legal theory and latest developments in Indian jurisprudential thought. At places, the whole text has been recast, re-written and expanded updating the contents. An attempt has been made to evaluate the contemporary changes in other parts of the world; notably, U.K., U.S.A., and European countries without, however, losing sight of corresponding developments in the Indian legal setting.
