In an expanded and improved third edition of this classic textbook, Michael Hill has once again provided an exemplary introductory account of the policy process in the modern state. Building on the success of the previous editions, the author has extended the introductory first chapter in to include more explanatory material on the policy process itself, what it is and how we can study it. The thoroughly revised chapter also now provides analysis of the ossifies pf description and periscope so important to policy studies. With the main themes now firmly set up in the first chapter, the book provides more coherent analysis and evaluation of the policy process as a whole. Each chapter has been carefully revised and many have been partially or wholly rewritten to reflect the sing authorship of Michael Hill who has taken full responsibility for the revision of this third edition.
