Summary: This block introduces students to the pattern of resource endowments of our country both natural and human. Among natural resources we have some which are on the soil and some which are under the soil. The human resources are the population of the country, the working force, and their quality, i.e., health, education and skill. In this block, Unit 6 deals with the pattern of natural resources, both on the soil and under the soil. The next unit, Unit 7, deals with the population situation, the trends and patterns in its development over time and the associated policies. This block is meant for all students offering Economics either as their minor or major subject. However, for those who want to go in for Economics as a major subject, there would be appendices. These appendices to all the blocks will be put together in a separate volume, and students offering Economics as their major subject would have to go through that, and be ready to be evaluated also, thereby earning two extra credits.
