Summary: The ILO and India-In Pursuit of Social Justice is the first study undertaken in India to assess and evaluate the impact of the ILO on Indian labour and social policies and the Indian response and commitment to fundamental goals and objectives of the ILO. The ILO symbolises social justice, uni versal lasting peace and human dignity which are also the sheet anchor of India's policies and programmes which it is pursuing in the fulfilment of her obligation towards her people. The ILO and India have benefited each other and have influenced in strengthening the vibrant and surging ideas and forces of universal peace and social justice all over the world. Organisa tionally, the ILO is democratically structured so as to carry out these commitments towards the people of the world in coopera tion with Governments, employers and the workers.
