Since the fifties of the present century, the theory of disguised unemployment has been playing a very controversial role.Considering the output of literature on the subject, the present work seems to be a clear case of pure product differentiation.
The work, perhaps, is the last nail in the coffin of disguised unemployment. The book analyses critically the theoretical presuppositions of the hypothesis of disguised unemployment and makes a critical review of the empirical studies by those who
have tried to support the theory by empirical estimates. The analysis made in the book shows that even in very densely
populated underdeveloped countries, disguised unemployment constitutes a very nominal magnitude, and that too is vanishing
with the increasing tempo at which development is taking place in such countries.
