Summary: A Survey of Research in. Economics is being published in seven volumes under the following broad titles: Methods and Tech- niques; Macro Economics; Agriculture (Parts I & II in separate volumes); Industry; Infrastructure; and Econometrics. The surveys included in these volumes were planned by an Advisory Committee of which Dr. D. T. Lakdawala was the convener. The trend reports and bibliographies include: A General Introduction by D. T. Lakdawala; Teaching of Economics by V. M. Rao; Research Methods by Y. K. Alagh; Planning Techniques by S. Chakravarty; and Regional Development by A. Ghosh. The Survey covers broadly the period up to 1969 and includes most of the research work on India done by Indian social scientists. Where necessary references have also been made to outstanding research work on India done by non-Indian scholars. The Indian Council of Social Science Research hopes to continue this survey and also proposes to bring out periodic reviews of research work done after the period covered in this survey.
