The present study aims at an analysis of the factors that are responsible for the concentration of economic power in the private industrial sector of Indian economy. Such a study cannot successfully be made by relying solely on the socalled pure economic analysis. This is so because , concentration of economic power in India has taken place, unlike in other countries, not so much through amalgamation and absorption of smaller firms by bigger, as through the normal process of expansion and growth.
