Arranged in two parts, part I covers a variety of issues related with dogmas and policy of tribal development namely dimensions of problems, policy prescription of development, fruitful regulation of tribal migration, well planned rehabilitation of displaced tribals and arresting population influx into the tribal areas. Economic constraints which play an important obstacles in the process of growth have been widely discussed. Emphasis is given on special strategy for the development of primitive tribal groups and nomadic tribes. Participation of social activists and voluntary organisations in fighting injustice and also the need for more specific remedies to arrest the rising trend of atrocities on tribals have been specially highlighted. Micro-level planning should be followed sincerely to boost up the growth rate of the more
backward areas. In part II, attention has been focussed on new approach to develop agricultural strategy for tribal economy, problem of land alienation, anomalies in operating prevailing laws on lands, introduction of effective measures to set free the tribal society from the grips of money lenders etc. It contains a critical analysis of co-operative financing with suggestions to make improvements in the present system. Separate chapters have been devoted to deal with the conflicting issues which determine the broad constraints of forestry development and the related problems with special focus on M.P. Lastly, the discussion lays stress on making a shift in the policy of forest management by actively involving the tribals in this assignment.
