Summary: This book endeavours to provide a relatively complete, comprehensive and valid account and analysis of environmental laws in India. The approach of the book is to consolidate all the environment related laws both substantive and procedural, and to examine the implementation of those laws. The book also includes major International Conventions and Conferences relating to environment protection along with role of various U.N. agencies in this field. A short account of major documents of Earth Summit, 1992 is the special feature of the book. In short while analysing the typology of environmental pollutions, history of environmental legislations it also discusses various aspects of imple mentation problems and perspectives with analysis of some leading court cases in this field. It studies the past, looks into the present and foretells the possible future and suggests some remedial measures after arriving at the conclusion that the existing legal process in India will not be able to realize the objectives of large number of environmental legislations passed by our Parliament.
