Perspectives in Indian politics and administration

The volume in hand is author's second attempt of this type, the first being Current Ideas and Issues in Indian Administration. The raison d'etre of a work of this type may be questioned by many in the academic community on the ground that a collection of un related articles generally lacks central focus and, therefore, fails to provide the readers with some thematic view of a situation or idea.
But a criticism on this line is not relevant to this volume. It is true that these research articles were written on different occasions and in different contexts, however, a serious reader of Indian politics and administration will easily discern that they are not as much unrelated as they apparently seem to be. It was to avoid this criticism of unrelatedness that the articles were placed in two groupes : one under 'Politics' and another under *Administration'. Articles in each group are very much related to each other; this is more so in case of the first group. Again, thematic coherence is a fact with respect to each group of articles.
