Summary: Environmental crisis, in its various mani festations, has touched the entire fabric of human-life, assimilating numerous conse quences on our finite natural resources and national-capital. The very concept of sustain able development and wise management of resources has demanded positive and realis tic planning to meet the human needs against the environmental potentialities. The book presents the global phenomenon of environ mental degradation and analyse the trends which has undertaken to stop the further deterioration of planet-earth. It focus on spe cial studies which are the trouble spots of environmental planning and Management: like phenomena of deforestation, desertifica tion, marine pollution, ozone layer depletion, Green-house effects, Biological-diversity, consequences of Nuclear fall outs and others which have a direct bearing, and contribu tion, to the Global environmental crisis, vis-a vis, a special study on Indian Scenerio. The study is divided into seven chapters tracing the heritage and hierarchy of environmental organizational and institutional set-up for managing various distinguished and disguised problems. It displays the interrelationships among the different aspects of the subject and identity trends which would indicate cur rent and possible future changes on the different ecosystems along with the achieve ments with all its norms and means. The theoretical and practical postulation of this study will provide enriched source of inter ests for environ-protectionists, media per son, educational-administration, policy-mak ers, lawyers and judges, social-activists, Re search-scholars and general-readers; to un derstand and evaluate the crisis phenom enon in the human environment. It is our highest endeavour to educate people and governments on "Environmental-problems" in this International decade for Environmen tal Education (1990-95), and the present study is an humble beginnings in this direc tion.
